Government Announces Changes to Better Access

In a statement released yesterday, the Minister for Mental Health, Mark Butler announced changes to the Better Access program. The 2011-2012 budget included changes to the funding of the Better Access program, with the number of rebates available to allied health services changing from 12 (up to 18 in exceptional circumstances) to 10 for individuals who were receiving services under the program, effective from 1 November 2011. However, in the release issued yesterday, the Minister has re-instated the additional 6 services under the exceptional circumstances provision until 31 December 2012.
